Battery pump for flexible portability

Friday, November 23rd, 2018 by admin Posted in In General, Mechanical Engineering

High pressure hydraulic tools specialist, Enerpac, announces the ZC-Series cordless hydraulic pump combining the performance of an electric pump with the convenience and portability of a battery pump. The ZC-Series is ideal for jobs that require a combination of portability, speed and safety.

These cordless pumps work well for remote locations without access to power and indoors where trip hazards, ergonomics or size is a concern. The ZC-Series pumps are suited for use in industrial applications such as foundation repair, rail maintenance and concrete post-tensioning. Since this cordless solution is quiet, it’s also ideal for applications where noise and emissions from gas powered equipment are a concern.

Submersible borehole pumps for very high heads

Tuesday, November 20th, 2018 by admin Posted in Dewatering, In General, Mining, Pump Applications, Water Supply

These new submersible borehole pumps developed by KSB have a diameter of up to 50 inches, i.e. 1250 mm, and a drive rating of up to 5 MW. These pumps will be capable of handling

  • flow rates of up to 5000 m³/h
  • at heads of up to 1500 m.

Compared with dry-installed pump sets, the advantage of submersible borehole pumps is -acc. to an information of the manufacturer- “the notably longer service life and the fact that pumps with wet motors are not compromised by flooding.” KSB is one of the few manufacturers worldwide to offer double-entry designs for particularly high load conditions alongside “normal” single-entry designs.

This double-entry design was originally used for drainage applications in mines. The heads required in these applications would have created very high axial thrusts in single-entry pump designs, placing extremely high loads on the bearings. The back-to-back impeller arrangement employed in double-entry designs not only reduces the axial thrust but also the associated bearing loads.

1/2” AODD pump with multiple mounting orientations

Friday, November 16th, 2018 by admin Posted in In General, Pump Technology

The new V150 13 mm (1/2”) Velocity Series pump from Wilden is featuring a detachable mounting foot. It can easily be reoriented into a vertical or horizontal position with multiple inlet and discharge port options. With this innovative design, the pump can be installed in multiple orientations, a critical consideration for systems and skids.

The Velocity Series – available in 13 mm (1/2”) and 6 mm (1/4”) sizes – features a bore-seal design that eliminates leaks that can result from torque decay. It also delivers improved dry suction lift up to 4.3 m (14.2’) in the 6 mm (1/4”) size and 5.1 m (16.9’) in the 13 mm (1/2”) size better priming. In addition, these pumps incorporate a proven and simple air distribution system (ADS) with only two moving parts that reduces the risk of downtime for long-term reliability.

Uraca celebrates 125th anniversary

Friday, November 9th, 2018 by admin Posted in In General, Industry News

In 1893, cousins Friedrich Krumm and Gustav Magenwirth founded a pair of small companies: first, the “Krumm & Magenwirth Mechanische Werkstätte” and finally the company “Krumm & Magenwirth OHG zum Betrieb einer Maschinenwerkstätte” in Germany. At the time, they could not have known this would be the genesis of the modern machinery industry in Bad Urach. From these humble beginnings, the companies Magura and Uraca emerged.

The Krumm & Magenwirth Maschinen-Werkstätte developed their own 3.5 HP horizontal gasoline engine to drive their machine tools. This piston engine laid the foundation for generations of plunger pumps.
