Multiphase pumps for oil-water-sand-gas mixtures

Wednesday, September 19th, 2018 von admin

The global hunger for oil and gas continues unabated, which means that exploration companies are striving to achieve higher and higher yields and are also increasingly developing difficult sources, such as heavy oils with an extremely high solid content. Methane from coal seams or highly viscous oil at more than 10,000 mPas are already of commercial interest today but are just as complicated to extract as oil-sand mixtures from the Sudanese desert. Conveying systems in particular have to be adapted to the media and the environment if production is to be efficient under such conditions. Netzsch Pumps & Systems has developed a multiphase pump precisely for this area of application. It can handle mixtures of oil, water and gas along with sand content, achieving flow rates of up to 600 m³/h.

Downhole progressing cavity pump with submersible drive

Thursday, July 12th, 2018 von admin

A German energy supplier had initially used a geological horizon for gas storage, but then decided to extract crude oil from the same deposit. Therefore, a suitable extraction system had to be acquired for transporting the multi-phase mixture with a high gas content to the surface from 1,200 m below. Due to the extreme conditions, a special pump technology was required:

Netzsch developed a progressing cavity pump system with submersible drive. As all moving parts are positioned deep down in the well, there is also no risk of environmental impact from leaks at the surface. (more…)

Low flow with high head pump applications

Friday, May 18th, 2018 von admin

Side Channel Pumps are self-priming pumps that operate in low NPSH conditions & have the ability to handle up to 50% entrained gas. These pumps run at very low flow rates, while generating medium to high differential pressures.

Side Channel Pump specialist, Sero PumpSystems, will showcase these capabilities and the operation of multifunction pumps with their Mini Pump Lab (Fig.) at 2018 Achema  trade show in Frankfurt. Sero will demonstrate an affordable, easy and effective control of side channel pumps utilizing “Industrie 4.0”, as well as duty point monitoring within the pump’s performance range.

Multiphase pump installation allowing wells to come back to production

Wednesday, November 15th, 2017 von admin

Crosbys Creek Oil & Gas  LLC, based in Ridgeland, MS,  is an independent American producer producing in Choctow County in Northern Alabama, USA. These fields are older and have produced oil and gas for many years.  Over time the natural reservoir pressure has dropped off to a point where some wells are not able anymore to overcome the back pressure generated by the surface flow lines and the first stage separator of the process facility. The company had heard about multiphase pumping. This economic alternative caught the interest of the management as the production was expected to remain interesting for years to come.
