KSB extended portfolio with vertical turbine pumps

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2018 von admin

The KSB Group extended its portfolio by adding a comprehensive programme of vertical turbine pumps. The so-called B Pumps are multistage vertical turbine pumps with a submerged hydraulic system. The pump sets comprise a discharge casing assembly, a column pipe and a pump bowl assembly. In total, customers can choose from 17 sizes with three different impeller types.

  • The pump sets cover heads of up to 200 metres.
  • Flow rates of up to 720 l/sec.
  • Available with one to 25 stages,
  • with stage casing diameters ranging from six to 24 inches.

Gather: From laboratory to production via pilot plant

Tuesday, April 4th, 2017 von admin

A process generally undergoes initial development within a laboratory and is then made production ready in pilot or mini plants. During this scale-up, a range of different problems can emerge, e.g., in the way temperatures behave. In a laboratory, a process may be endothermic but becomes exothermic in production. How pumps behave in relation to peripheral equipment can change under full-scale production conditions, Sven Borghoff describes a coordinated pump and drive concept which makes scaling up easier.

Dosing pumps with multifunctional extensions for different pump types often used in laboratories generally have no particularly high temperature or pumping ranges. However, when scaling up, these aspects take on major significance. Gather uses its magnetic-driven pumps (Fig. 1) here. They are available in such a broad range that when scaling up from the laboratory to production via a mini or pilot plant, the pumping and control technology can be retained. The company cooperates with the chemical industry, institutes and universities to make process development from initial laboratory trials through to production easier.

KEPL commissioned its first API Turbine in Indonesia

Wednesday, October 28th, 2015 von admin

K-TUR imagePune-headquartered Kirloskar Ebara Pumps Ltd (KEPL), a joint venture of Kirloskar Brothers Ltd (KBL), has successfully commissioned its indigenously-developed first API 611 Steam Turbine ‘K-TUR’ at PT. Pemukasakti Manishindah, Indonesia. KEPL designed and developed API 611 compliant steam turbine up to a power rating of 3000 kW for the global API industry. This first “K-TUR” was supplied through ISGEC Heavy Engineering Limited, India with a rating of 380 Kw. This turbine is capable of variable speed / power operation from 30 % to 110 % of the boiler load and has been designed in a way that it has the best operational efficiencies over its designed life of 20 years. In addition to No Load Mechanical Run Testing (NLMRT) as per API 611. KEPL also tested the turbine on part load for the first time using a calibrated pump to evaluate its operational performance vis-a-vis the designed performance.
