KSB at BrauBeviale 2018 in Nuremberg

Vitachrom with SuPremE motor, PumpDrive and PumpMeter

KSB Group will be showcasing its comprehensive range of pumps and valves for sterile/hygienic applications and support processes at Brau Beviale 2018 in Nuremberg from 13 to 15 November 2018.

Naturally, the focal point of KSB’s presentation will be the five hygienic food pump type series Vitachrom, Vitacast, Vitalobe, Vitaprime and Vitastage. Because of the large number of design variants the pumps are offered in, they are ideally suited for almost any pumping task in the fields of liquid or viscous food transport. The pumps’ excellent cleaning and steaming in place (CIP/SIP) capabilities are promoted by the almost complete lack of dead volume, the electropolished wetted components and the use of high-grade stainless steels. All pumps belonging to the Vita series have been awarded the certificates common to the industry, such as EHEDG, and their elastomer components conform to FDA standards.

Pump controller for monitoring and controlling a 2-pump sewage station

New app simplifies pump operation

This new KSB app called ‘FlowManager’ can be used to operate and configure the PumpDrive 2 and PumpDrive 2 Eco variable speed systems. It can also be used to adjust the fixed speed of MyFlow Drive to the optimum operating point. The new KSB FlowManager app features all of the familiar basic functions from previous versions of the MyPump Drive app and supports both IOS and Android devices. It is available for download from the iTunes Store and Google Play Store free of charge.

The app’s main functions can be summarised under the terms operation and monitoring.

KSB puts pumps into the Internet of Things

At this year’s Achema, KSB is presenting a new pump monitoring system called KSB Guard. Networked vibration and temperature sensors fitted directly to the pump make availability at plant level transparent. The system ensures that changes in the operating behaviour of the machine are detected at an early stage, and maintenance work can be better planned, without having to be on site with the pump. Unlike previous systems, KSB Guard is ideally suited for retrofitting. The sensor unit is attached to the bearing bracket or the drive lantern of the pump using a magnet and adhesive, and can be mounted during operation, with no need for changes to the machine. A battery unit, which is also supplied, provides self-sufficient power supply.

Innovations for wastewater pumping

At the previous Ifat, Swiss company Egger presented a further development of their completely retracted Turo centrifugal impeller TA for raw sewage conveyance. To date, a large number of pumping stations that are burdened with high solid loads (such as fibrous materials, wet wipes, etc.) have been successfully equipped with them. Blockages could be eliminated or – under extreme load – reduced to a minimum.

At Ifat 2018, the company is now presenting a low-clog and 100% dry-running-safe centrifugal pump hydraulic system. A further development of the Eurodyn hydrodynamic shaft seal in conjunction with Turo Vortex hydraulics makes absolutely dry-run safe use possible. The pump hydraulics and shaft seal operate completely contact-free. In the case of wastewater pumping operations that comply with the regulations, the pump set as designed by Egger enables 4-years of maintenance-free operation.
