Twin screw pumps for food applications


Hyghspin twin screw pumps have a compact design and many versatile and flexible uses. The design of these pumps do follow hygienic design criteria. Their block construction saves space and always ensures a correctly aligned coupling.

Mobile units including frequency converter and service switch are another feature of this pump range. These units stand out, among other things, on account of their self-priming qualities and ease of service. Safe-to-run dry seals, for example, require no flushing.

All Hyghspin twin screw pumps are specially designed for the high demands of the food industries. They are manufactured in stainless steel, as it is generally required by the market. On top all wetted parts are made entirely from solid material. There is no wetted part of cast origin. This prevents the risk of imperfections, such as cracks or shrink holes. The surfaces are electropolished and have a roughness of less than 0.8 μm as standard. For special requirements improved surfaces qualities with Ra value of less than 0.4 μm are available as option.

These twin screw pumps are able to cope with a wide variety of media, they have universal applicability and can deal with the most diverse viscosities at different flow volumes within the same system. The CIP/SIP function means that no bypass is required. Frequent product changes can also be efficiently effected with Hyghspin pumps. There is no need to dismantle the pump. Henning Groenwoldt-Hesse, Sales Director of Jung Process Systems, points out: “Hygienic risks from product residue can be ruled out. Also any nickel ingress into the product, which could be harmful to allergy sufferers.”

The company also offers individual solutions for highly abrasive products. Groenwoldt-Hesse cites fruit purées as an example of this. “The pump has to withstand crystals or fruit pips, which are not bound in the product,” he explains. Of importance is the choice of operating parameters and also the selection of the technical design. The wear resistance of the wetted parts is significantly increased by diffusion hardening. “This also improves operating safety as galling is prevented.”
