Pressure transmitters for remote commissioning of functional safety

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 von admin

Siemens presented Sitrans P320/420, the first pressure transmitter on the market to feature remote safety handling reducing commissioning time in applications requiring functional safety.

Via Simatic Process Device Manager (PDM) the safety integrity level (SIL) devices will be commissioned: rather than manually attending to each individual device across the facility, operators can commission transmitters from the control room. This next generation of pressure transmitters was developed according to IEC 61508 standard for the use in SIL 2/3.

Pump acceptance testing – now online

Wednesday, February 21st, 2018 von admin

At this year’s Ifat trade fair (14 to 18 May 2018) the KSB Group is introducing a trade fair novelty to its visitors: the newly created online pump acceptance testing. When purchasing large pumps, hydraulic acceptance tests and a final inspection are an essential proof of compliance with the guaranteed values. In the past, customers always had to travel to the test facility to witness their purchased pump being tested.

As testing usually takes place at the manufacturing plant, this is a time-consuming and costly trip, especially for international projects or those that are far away. Online acceptance testing is KSB’s answer, developed as a process enabling reliable and standard-compliant pump acceptance testing. The tests conducted are transmitted live via a specially protected part of the Internet. In an online meeting between pump manufacturer and customer, the customer can see the live camera view of the pump in the test facility as well as the characteristic curve measurement during testing.

Grundfos: Direct Sensors – the sense organs of the pump

Saturday, August 22nd, 2015 von admin

grundfos DirectYou can only change what is accessible by measurement – whoever wants to control a process flow of a pump needs reliable current data on the one hand, and on the other, possible intelligent linking and interpretation of this data: Sensors deliver data, microchips have stored software to interpret this and actuators implement the commands. To also offer technical benchmarks, the pump manufacturer Grundfos maintains well-equipped own research and development departments, finance and personnel dealing with motors, frequency converters, sensors, microchips and their programming.

The ‘Direct Sensor’ development is a micro-mechanical semiconductor sensor (MEMS, Micro-Electro-Mechanical System), which is produced in its own wafer fabrication facility of purity grade 10.
