New plunger pump head reaches up to more than 1,000 bar

Friday, April 13th, 2018 von admin

The plunger pumps feature an integrated gear, which enables very compact construction with maximum efficiency.

For the purpose of upgrading a cracker in a Chinese refinery a total of five plunger pump skids should be brought into operation by Lewa. Those in charge of the project opted for three triplex and two quintuplex plunger pumps in accordance with the API 674 standard. These pumps are equipped with the new KMC-L pump head with reduced clearance volume. This head consists of a single forging: The suction manifold is integrated as a result, allowing for a reduction in the sealing surface and thus in any potential leak points. An additional advantage is the fact that the suction side can be designed to handle backpressure, eliminating the need for a safety valve in the suction line. The new design makes it possible to realize pressures up to 1,075 bar. All pumps in use have been produced in Germany and mounted to a complete system in the Chinese plant.

These plunger pumps have a drive output of 260 kW and a flow rate of 25 m3/h. The suction pressure loss of the pump heads is very low, therefore a low suction pressure is needed and it is often possible to operate without a booster pump.

Oscillating displacement pumps for extraction with Carbon Dioxide

Sunday, November 19th, 2017 von admin

Carbon dioxide is used particularly in the food, beverage, cosmetics and pharmaceutical industry for extracting natural substances, aromas, fats, oils, waxes, polymers, enzymes and colourants in their supercritical physical state. For despite its bad reputation as a greenhouse gas, CO2 is a natural and environmentally-friendly solvent which has advantages over synthetic and harmful media such as n-hexane when it comes to sustainability.

Oscillating displacement pumps are ideal for supercritical CO2 extraction.

Pump skid for FPSO shortly before test run

Wednesday, August 6th, 2014 von admin

abb-1klAt the end of 2012, Wepuko Pahnke was contracted by the Brazilian oil production company Petrobras for the delivery and installation of six three-plunger pumps. These pumps are intended for what is known as “well service” on offshore crude oil production ships – the FPSOs = floating production storage and offloading units. The pumps including the drive unit, lubricant supply and pulsation damping are mounted on a skid weighing a total of 48 tons.

Performance characteristics:

  • Installed power 1,230 KW
  • Maximum operating pressure 278 bar
  • Flow rate 120 m³/ h

Lewa: New plunger pump according to API 674

Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 von admin

QuintuplexThis new generation of pumps has splitted gear housings. This special feature significantly facilitates maintenance, permitting the use of a fully balanced crankshaft which generates less noise and vibration, thus reducing wear. The power range was also extended with two quintuplex plunger pumps.  The very short design of these plunger pumps is made possible by the special alignment of the plunger and crosshead. These pumps also have high efficiency, low energy consumption, and a long service life.
