New plastic centrifugal pump for aggressive liquids containing solid particles

These mechanically sealed centrifugal pumps are made for liquids containing solid particles. Since there are no metal parts on the liquid side, the pumps are ideal for chemicals transfer and circulation in surface treatment industry. These Tapflo CTP pumps are available with BSP thread, flange or hose connections. The pumps can be used for chemically corrosive and toxic liquids as well as for clean and thin liquids like pure chemicals, acids and alkalis because the wetted components are non-metallic, injection molded thermoplastics enabling excellent corrosion resistance.

Elbow pump made from plastic

The use of elbow pumps is always indicated when large flow rates are to be pumped to low heads. This requires a propeller-like impeller with both axial inlet and outlet, which guides the out warding flow into a pipe bend. This geometry then allows the introduction of a long projecting pump shaft in the pipe bend up to the impeller. The bearing of the pump shaft takes place outside the pumping chamber and must be generously dimensioned in the axial direction. The adjustment of the delivery head is usually done with a belt drive between the pump shaft and motor. The new ROPP model – showcased at Achema 2018 – of the Germany based pump manufacturer Wernert is also based on this classic pump concept, but with a few additional technical features that should be of interest to the experts and pump users in the chemical industries:

High-speed metering gear pumps for complex applications

Oerlikon Barmag pumps are used in processes at the chemicals, plastics, paints and lacquers industries as well as in PUR applications. One of the biggest challenges is metering poorly-lubricating media. The pump manufacturer wil show at Achema in Frankfurt the GM and GA ranges an a high-speed pump with sealed product space.

The main advantage of the high-speed pump is the sealed product space. The space within the pump that comes into contact with the media is therefore limited to the area around the gears. The external, ball-bearing support points in the high-speed pump are externally lubricated, hence ensuring that the product to be metered does not cause damage as a result of poor lubrication.

  • hazardous chemicals and
