New plunger pump head reaches up to more than 1,000 bar

Friday, April 13th, 2018 von admin

The plunger pumps feature an integrated gear, which enables very compact construction with maximum efficiency.

For the purpose of upgrading a cracker in a Chinese refinery a total of five plunger pump skids should be brought into operation by Lewa. Those in charge of the project opted for three triplex and two quintuplex plunger pumps in accordance with the API 674 standard. These pumps are equipped with the new KMC-L pump head with reduced clearance volume. This head consists of a single forging: The suction manifold is integrated as a result, allowing for a reduction in the sealing surface and thus in any potential leak points. An additional advantage is the fact that the suction side can be designed to handle backpressure, eliminating the need for a safety valve in the suction line. The new design makes it possible to realize pressures up to 1,075 bar. All pumps in use have been produced in Germany and mounted to a complete system in the Chinese plant.

These plunger pumps have a drive output of 260 kW and a flow rate of 25 m3/h. The suction pressure loss of the pump heads is very low, therefore a low suction pressure is needed and it is often possible to operate without a booster pump.

Lewa: Follow-up order of another 20 pumps to Saudi Arabia

Thursday, December 14th, 2017 von admin

Lewa delivered 40 process diaphragm pumps to two large offshore platforms on the Persian Gulf in 2013. Lewa has got now a follow-up order to this 30 Mio Euro order – the largest in the history of Lewa. The follow-up order includes

  • 8 LGB2 Boxer pumps and
  • 12 LDH5 series process pumps

These pumps are used for transferring monoethylene glycol (MEG) from the Tie In Platforms (TP) to the Well Head Platforms (WHP) and on-site MEG injection. This injection is intended to prevent the ice formation in the drill hole that can occur during the formation of methane hydrate. The project will be completed in 2019.

The plant will increase the gas output from 70 million m³ up to 126 million m3 per day.

Lewa: New Triplex process diaphragm pump

Thursday, June 25th, 2015 von admin

abb1The G3M, a heavy-duty, medium-sized triplex drive unit, was originally developed to bring re-liquefied boil-off gases from LNG tankers to a high pressure level, rendering these gases usable for the ships’ propulsion system. As a rugged workhorse, it is also ideal for various other applications, including use in the chemical industry or for offshore applications on oil platforms. The Lewa Triplex G3M process diaphragm pump was one of the main exhibits of Lewa GmbH at Achema 2015.

The G3M is an intermediate size product in the Lewa portfolio that attains a maximum output of 200 kW thanks to its stroke length of 120 mm and a rod force of 125 kN. It is intended for use primarily in the oil and gas industry, as well as the chemical process industry. The chief application in the former sector is injecting monoethylene glycol and methanol. In the process industry, a wide variety of pumping tasks in pressure ranges between 40 and 750 bar can be managed. Other possible applications include handling highly flammable materials such as vinyl acetate, slurry in the wet oxidation or high-pressure metering of liquid ammonia.

Lewa transformed its joint venture, which had been in effect since October 2011, to a fully fledged subsidiary. The complete acquisition of the company paved the way to invest in the expansion of the subsidiary and to improve its position in Russia. In this region, the main focus is on the oil and gas market, but the process industry also plays an important role.

The new structure will enable Lewa to fulfill its wish of better serving the requirements for pump and system operations in the region. At the same time, Lewa plans to expand the on-site service capacities.
“Through our own subsidiary, we will be able to create more added value in the region, which our customers there greatly appreciate. Therefore, the contract signing will help us improve our market position over the long term,” exclaims Glasmeyer, explaining the effects of the acquisition.
