KSB motors IE5 classified

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2017 von admin

The KSB SuPremE motor made by the Frankenthal pump manufacturer KSB has been IE5 classified since January 2017. The motor meets the requirements of IE5 (IEC/TS 60034-30-2), the highest of energy efficiency classes for variable speed electric motors; compared with IE4, motor losses are reduced by a further 20 percent.

Unlike conventional synchronous motors this drive is made without any magnetic materials such as rare earths that are categorised as critical raw materials since their extraction causes severe environmental impacts in their countries of origin.

The KSB Group is mourning the death of Dr Wolfgang Kühborth. Having served for many years as the head of the Frankenthal-based pumps and valves Group, Dr Kühborth died last Tuesday (31 January) at the age of 92 following a brief but serious illness. As a descendant of KSB’s founding family (Klein), he shaped the course of the company’s history, in particular in his capacity as Member and Chairman of the Board of Management of KSB Aktiengesellschaft and in later years as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. “Dr Wolfgang Kühborth was a charismatic entrepreneur,” said the Members of the Board of Management Dr Peter Buthmann and Werner Stegmüller in respectful remembrance of the deceased. “Over a career spanning some 50 years, he greatly influenced the development of the company during the post-war period and steered the KSB Group into a global role.”

KSB: New variable speed system for HVAC applications

Etaline pump with PumpDrive Eco

This year’s ISH trade fair in Frankfurt will see KSB present a new 230 V version of its motor-mounted PumpDrive Eco variable speed system. Available for motor ratings ranging from 0.12 to 1.1 kW, this new version has been specially tailored to the requirements of HVAC applications.

PumpDrive Eco features sensorless differential pressure control which comes preset for use with Etaline L. All key parameters relating to pump and motor data are also set at the factory. This reduces the time required for pump set commissioning.

Alongside wireless Bluetooth modules for permanent installation supplied optionally, Bluetooth couplers are now also available. These can be plugged onto the service interface of PumpDrive Eco from the outside. This arrangement improves usability by also allowing communication with systems that do not have their own BT interface. The myPumpDrive app enables users to communicate with the system and make settings via smartphone.
