Andritz to supply irrigation pumps for Egypt

International technology Group Andritz has received an order from Concord for Engineering and Contracting, Cairo Egypt, to supply 17 vertical line shaft pumps, including a set of spare parts, for a pumping station providing the water supply to the Nubaria irrigation canal, located south of the city of Alexandria. Start-up is scheduled for 2018.

The pumps supplied will be individually adapted to the customer’s specifications and achieve an aggregate flow rate of 11.7 m3 per second.

Each pump achieves a head of 28 meters at a shaft power of 222 kW.

Global fluid management solutions Kirloskar Brothers has taken its Engineering capabilities and expertise to the shores of Nile in Egypt. For over 50 years Kirloskar Brothers has had a strong presence in Egypt where it recently set two major pumping stations on the banks of the Nile River. Kirloskar Brothers envisages great potential in this region and has chalked out a blue print to leverage the business further. The company has set up a mammoth 10,000 sq meters facility in Cairo under its subsidiary SPP Pumps MENA LLC. Through this facility, Kirloskar Brothers will provide value added services i.e. energy audits, system analysis, vibration analysis, on site testing, cost effective refurbishment solutions, maintenance contracts et al. Besides, assembly and packaging of specialized products such as FM/UL firefighting pumping units, pump sets for HVAC, process pumps etc. too will be available.
