KSB: Major contract for new Indian power station

Wednesday, October 7th, 2015 von admin

KSB Pumps Ltd. India won a substantial order for the supply of six boiler feed pumps to be installed in the new, ultra-modern fossil-fuelled power station located in Tanda in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.India’s national power utility is currently building two new power plant units there, each with a capacity of 600 MW. The pumps are designed for a pressure of 500 bar. An electric motor and a turbine with power ratings of 11 MW and 17 MW respectively will serve to drive the pumps.

KSB: Hot water recirculation pump without external cooling

Friday, May 23rd, 2014 von admin

KSB_HPK-L (2)Early in June 2014, KSB will launch a new generation of hot water recirculation pumps for large industrial heating systems as well as forced circulation boilers and district heating systems. The horizontal, radially split single-stage volute casing pumps feature a back pull-out design. Their ratings and dimensions comply with ISO 2858; with regard to handling hot water, organic or synthetic heat transfer fluids, they also meet the technical requirements of ISO 5199.  The HPK-L pump series, which comes in 49 different sizes, can be operated at temperatures of up to 400 °C without any additional cooling devices, and is designed for pressure classes of up to PN 40. This temperature resistance is achieved by means of a generously sized heat barrier which separates the pump set’s hot operating section from the air-cooled mechanical seal chamber.

KSB: Pumps for the world’s most modern coal-fired power plant

Wednesday, April 16th, 2014 von admin

LUV, komplett montiert.KSB has been awarded contracts by two Chinese power plant constructors to supply four new-generation boiler recirculation pumps. The pump sets are destined for the two new Chinese power stations: Laiwu in the province of Shandong and Taizhou in the province of Zhejiang.  These power stations are being designed to use twice-heated boiler technology, the only technology of its kind in the world which is capable of handling the highest temperature and pressure requirements for power plant boilers. The boiler recirculation pumps from the LUVAk series are designed for a pressure of 400 bar and an operating temperature of 425 °C. The pumps are driven by high-voltage motors with supply voltages of 6,000 volts and 10,000 volts and a drive rating of around 800 kW.

KSB: 8 boiler feed pumps for Indonesia

Thursday, November 21st, 2013 von admin

KSB_HGC-3-11By September 2014, KSB, Germany, will supply eight boiler feed pumps for the new power station in Babelan, Indonesia. The 270 MW oil-fired power station is being built by a Finnish corporate group approximately 20 kilometres east of Jakarta. The order is for the supply of eight boiler feed pumps of which six will be driven by fixed speed 6,000 V electric motors with a 2,260 kW drive rating. To adjust the speed to the varying pump output required, the pump sets have been designed with a turbo coupling between pump and motor. The flow rate of each unit will be around 270 m³/h. The designed head is approximately 1,960 metres and the temperature of the fluid handled 160 °C. The impellers of the 11-stage pumps are made of stainless steel. The total weight of each unit consisting of a pump, coupling and motor is in the region of 25 tonnes.

Gas-fired combined cycle power plant

The Siemens Energy Sector Austria shows exactly how a contemporary power supply should now be with the new gas and steam power plant in the Styrian town of Mellach. With the gas-fired combined cycle power plant a total of five decommissioned power plants are being replaced. In use on site: the self-regulating centrifugal pumps from the V-AN range – genuine problem solvers.

Automatic recirculation valve

Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 von admin

The SSV, a special automatic recirculation valve, automatically protects centrifugal pumps – especially boiler feed water pumps – against wear and damage, as can occur if the pump runs dry or during low-load operation. Typical damages are for example a temperature increase, which can lead to partial evaporation of the medium, or recirculation in the impeller. It can also lead to flow separation and cavitation in the pump. Similarly, increased vibration and mechanical stresses occur in the pump and cause damage. The SSV bypass control valve opens as soon as the process flow demand falls to the same level as the minimum flow required by the pump. In this way, the specified minimum continuous flow required by the pump is maintained, even if there is zero process flow demand.
