Technical Paper: API 676 compliance of progressive cavity pumps

Friday, August 3rd, 2018 von admin

Owing to their operating principle and their roots in waste water treatment, Progressive Cavity Pumps (PCP) come with typical deviations against petrochemical standard API 676. Some of these deviations are inevitable, others can be healed. It is a preservative headache and topic of discussion for project engineers to understand and identify which of these deviations are relevant, critical or acceptable for their project.

Water intake pumps to China’s mega-refinery

Wednesday, July 25th, 2018 von admin

Over the past decades, international technology Group Andritz has become a byword for highest quality and customized pump solutions and is now a preferred partner on a global scale. In the interests of its customers, the Pumps division does not set itself any limits with regard to size and flow rate in the development and manufacturing of tailor-made pumps. Thus, Andritz has been commissioned to supply the water intake pumps for China’s first privately managed and largest petrochemical plant.

Downhole progressing cavity pump with submersible drive

Thursday, July 12th, 2018 von admin

A German energy supplier had initially used a geological horizon for gas storage, but then decided to extract crude oil from the same deposit. Therefore, a suitable extraction system had to be acquired for transporting the multi-phase mixture with a high gas content to the surface from 1,200 m below. Due to the extreme conditions, a special pump technology was required:

Netzsch developed a progressing cavity pump system with submersible drive. As all moving parts are positioned deep down in the well, there is also no risk of environmental impact from leaks at the surface. (more…)

Hermetic deliver more than 200 pumps to the Middle East

Wednesday, June 27th, 2018 von admin

The Germany based pump manufacturer Hermetic dispatched more than 200 pumps with canned motor drive to the Middle East. The mega scale project includes all pump widths: from the smallest CAM 1 serie to typical oil & gas pumps of the CNP range. All of them are fitted with API 610 (American Petroleum Industry standard) hydraulics and equipped with a maintenance free canned motor. The drive power ranges from 1 kW to more than 100 kW.

The pumps fulfill API 685 standard requirements for sealless pumps, as well as expectations towards safety and reliability.

Hermetically sealed Twin-Screw Pump for chemical and petrochemical sectors

Monday, June 18th, 2018 von admin

ITT Bornemann launched a new hermetically-sealed pump, named SLW, at Achema 2018 in Frankfurt, Germany. This pump serie uses a magnetic coupling for a hermetic pump drive. With the sealed fluid chamber, critical media with harmful substances are confined to the pump and not released into the environment.

  • The design allows the two screws to convey the product and transmit the torque.
  • The single-volute design is also compact and requires a small footprint for installation.
  • The product is lubricated with inboard bearings.
  • The less-wear parts design leads to low-maintenance, resulting in high MTBF.

New 3-Inch AODD pump

Tuesday, June 12th, 2018 von admin

At Achema 2018 Aro introduced the new EXP Series three-inch non-metallic, air-operated diaphragm pump for chemical and water processing applications.

These pumps can transfer up to 20,000 liters of fluid in 30 minutes. That equates to a 47 percent increase in flow compared to the Aro two-inch pump, and a flow rate of up to 270 gallons per minute.

Smart pumps and predictive analytics gain traction

Wednesday, May 9th, 2018 von admin

Frost & Sullivan’s recent analysis, Global Pumps Market in the Oil and Gas Industry, Forecast to 2024, finds that there has been a concentrated focus on operational expenditure (OPEX) in the oil & gas industry following the oil price plunge in 2016. Upstream companies are increasingly acknowledging digitization as an important enabler of cost savings and profitability, and are therefore gravitating toward tools such as smart pumps. Among the many new-generation pumps in the market, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT)-enabled and energy-efficient pumps with demonstrable return on investment (RoI) are expected to experience the highest demand.

Pump monitoring with Atex certification

Monday, April 23rd, 2018 von admin

At this year’s Achema, Allweiler will exhibit its intelligent condition and operation monitoring system (hall 8.0, booth D63). Known as IN-1000, it is now also available with Atex certification for use in EX zones. IN-1000 was developed specifically for Allweiler pumps that are used in operationally-critical and environmentally-sensitive applications in chemical engineering.

The IN-1000 can be used for a wide range of condition monitoring applications, from simple, single-pump installations to complex, multi-pump systems while improving safety and reducing operating costs simultaneously.
