Pump monitoring with Atex certification

At this year’s Achema, Allweiler will exhibit its intelligent condition and operation monitoring system (hall 8.0, booth D63). Known as IN-1000, it is now also available with Atex certification for use in EX zones. IN-1000 was developed specifically for Allweiler pumps that are used in operationally-critical and environmentally-sensitive applications in chemical engineering.

The IN-1000 can be used for a wide range of condition monitoring applications, from simple, single-pump installations to complex, multi-pump systems while improving safety and reducing operating costs simultaneously.

High-Pressure Air-Operated Double-Diaphragm (AODD) Pumps Deliver The Operational Advantages Necessary For Optimized Operation Of Chamber Filter Presses.

In many industrial processes that feature the handling of liquids, the substances that are being transferred may occur in an aqueous or “muddy” state, with the liquid portion needing to be removed. This liquid-removal stage may take place during the production process – for example, in the filtration of edible oils or yeast solutions – but it more frequently occurs at the end of a process like wastewater treatment when the waste sludge that has formed must be withdrawn. Since the disposal of such sludges is calculated based on weight and volume, their thickening and drying is particularly lucrative for the processor. During the thickening and drying process, the sludges are treated using chemicals and/or physical processes so that the waste sludge forms into flake-like solids. After adjusting the pH level to neutral or alkaline via the use of milk of lime, the subsequent dewatering process separates the water for disposal, with the remaining volume of sludge significantly reduced.

The simplest technology for this process involves collection and thickening of the sludge through the use of gravity. However, it is significantly more effective to use technical drying methods via processes such as centrifuges and evaporators, or more commonly, chamber filter presses (Fig. 1).

Heat transfer oil circulation pump acc. to DIN EN 733

The pump manufacturer Dickow has developed a new pump line NKX for circulation of thermal oil. The pump casing is designed for 16 bar and 350 °C. The new pump line extends the application limit of the previous NKLs-type. The new NKX will replace the series NKLs with exactly the same dimensions in future.

The NKX is used as a circulation pump for hot oils in industrial heating plants/units. The performance range covers capacities up to 400 m3/h and differential heads up to 90 m in 50 Hz services; and capacities up to 2,500 US-gpm and differential heads up to 400 ft in 60 Hz services. The dimensions and performance range of these centrifugal pumps are according to DIN EN 733, that means range is subdivided into different pump sizes in order to achieve best efficiency for all service conditions inside the envelope.

An ‘alignment free’ pump

It is imperative that pumping systems are designed and operated in a way that reduces the amount of harmful stress placed on components. One area that has been difficult to achieve and maintain is shaft alignment. Failure to properly align a pump’s mating shafts will eventually lead to challenges associated with shaft fatigue and failure, resulting in compromised pumping-system uptime, reliability and safety. This can then result in costly maintenance or even knock the pump out of service and halt production.

Focused on this problem, Blackmer developed GNX Series sliding vane pumps, which are called by the manufacturer “industry’s first alignment-free”. It is a reduced-speed pump for use in both portable and stationary applications.

Wilden: 13 mm (½”) Clamped Metal Pump

This 13 mm (½”) clamped metal AODD pump PS1 is equipped with the energy-efficient Pro-Flo Shift Air Distribution System and its clamped configuration allows for easier maintenance, diaphragm replacement and cleaning.

The footprint of this AODD pump matches that of the Wilden PX1, which enables direct replacement of a PX1 with no repiping necessary. With less components and 7% more efficient than the PX1, the backward capability of the PS1 makes it an easy way to enhance and upgrade existing pump performance.

Netzsch at drinktec: New design of hygienic rotary lobe pump

The new design of the Tornado rotary lobe T.Sano has a completely smooth housing compared to the previous model, which attracts barely any dirt or dust. The range of the  rotary lobe pump T2 all-metal is interesting for food manufacturers due to its lack of dead space and also due to its oil-free design and operation. This pump is driven by a tooth belt drive, whereby the lobes are simultaneously synchronized. This technology is absolutely oil-free and maintenance-free.

Richter expanded RMA series
