The new double mechanical seal in tandem arrangement is especially well suited to the particular requirements of dry-installed and wet-installed waste water pumps. During development of the 4STQ – a double mechanical seal module – KSB’s engineers strove to ensure that its installation and removal remained as straightforward as possible. Assembly fixtures and fastening bolts are not required, and the seal’s modular design minimises downtime during maintenance inspections as well as preventing faulty reassembly.

PM EagleBurgmann HRCNWith the HRC N mechanical seal series, EagleBurgmann provides a seal system (version DIN 24960, Part C) for standard chemical pumps with conically opened sealed space that complies with the requirements for a standardized and application-related seal solution.

As a novelty within the HRC… N series, EagleBurgmann has now launched the optimized double seal HRC3300N on the market that has the same mounting dimensions and which uses some of the non-variable parts from the predecessor HRC3000N. A new stationary seat that does not require binding was used. This, and the improvements to the seal on the atmosphere side, makes the HRC3300N definitely more service friendly. Omitting the binding makes it possible to use the high-performance DiamondFace diamond coating, and the operating temperature increases to +200°C (+392°F). (more…)

PM_DF-P-DGS6With the DF(P)DGS6 EagleBurgmann offers reliable shaft sealing for API 610 high-performance pumps, e.g. BB3 and BB4 process pumps, and vertical pumps applied in liquefied gas fractionation, in pump stations of downstream NGL (Natural Gas Liquids) pipelines and also in CO2 applications.

Numerous plant operators experience problems incurred by temperature and pressure fluctuations in the pump. In conjunction with the low vapor pressure margin of the medium (e.g. ethane, propane), this can cause phase transitions between liquid and gas at the seal faces – they run dry. Conventional mechanical seals consequently sustain damages which results in seal failures.

EagleBurgmann, a Joint Venture of the Freudenberg and EKK Group, acquired Tianjin Nibot Seal Technology Co. Ltd., the Chinese company in Tianjin, to 100% on June 19, 2015. Tianjin is a major industrial center and an important seaport in the northeast of China, approximately 145 kilometers from Peking. The acquired company is an experienced specialist with regard to maintenance, retrofit, repair and service of gas seals in the e.g. oil&gas and petrochemical and chemical industry sectors. Over many years it has made a very good name for itself with international end users at the northeast coast of China. “The acquisition is important to us in so far because it noticeably boosts our strategic alignment towards the end user business in China, making us even more competitive,” says Dr. Stefan Sacré, CEO of EagleBurgmann. “In addition to our successful business with compressor manufacturers, our newly acquired experts now let us offer even better and more long-term service for gas seals.”

EagleBurgmann PG FIMWith the new Flange Integrity Management (FIM) program and specially equipped service units, such as trailers or containers, EagleBurgmann offers customized service in the plant directly on site. The FIM full package includes all necessary services from training the assembly personnel (EN1591-4) to performing analyses, flange inspections, seal packaging, assembly and complete documentation. The provision and production of seals, the deployment of experienced gasket specialists for valves and pumps, or jobs such as the turning of sealing surfaces on site are advantages for the operator.

Seal Pots, a company of the EagleBurgmann group, had been making a very good name for itself for years as the manufacturer of supply systems and had successfully positioned itself in the market. From 1997 up to his current relocation to the States, Johnson, a native-born South African, had been working in a managing position at the South African subsidiary of the international seal manufacturer, EagleBurgmann.

Mechanical Seal Primary Rings for Sealing Refrigerants and Low Viscosity Liquids

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALow viscosity liquids are difficult for mechanical seals because the hydrodynamic film that they create between the two rubbing seal faces is extremely thin. In order for this extremely thin hydrodynamic film to lubricate the two sealing faces, the seal faces must stay highly polished and they must run in very close proximity to each other. The self-polishing characteristic of  mechanical seals with antimony impregnated, carbon-graphite primary rings and solid silicon carbide counter face rings can solve this problem. Low viscosity liquids such as Freon refrigerants, liquid oxygen, liquid carbon dioxide, propane, ethylene, and acetone are now being successfully sealed using mechanical seals with Metcar Grade M-444, antimony impregnated, carbon-graphite primary seal rings.
