Friatec Rheinhütte: Chemical pump made of metallic materials

Friday, July 18th, 2014 von admin

The RCE pump is a chemical pump made of metallic materials. It is developed for heavy-duty applications in chemically aggressive and abrasive media with or without a solids content, in chemical processing technology, the primary materials industry and other areas of industry. Typical applications are molten salt, pitch, tar, sulphur, etc.

Andritz: Dewatering flooded mine tunnels in South Africa

Thursday, July 17th, 2014 von admin

South Africa is currently dealing with the problem of acid water because underneath the old gold mining city of Johannesburg is a lake which contains heavily contaminated water, which spreads horizontally and vertically into the abandoned pits of the former gold mines.  Meanwhile, the water line has reached a critically high level, as determined by the specialists from Andritz Ritz, which was given the first order to drain the mine water in 2010. The execution of the project was delayed by four years however, and it was only in spring 2014 that two powerful submersible motor pumps were installed in the middle of Johannesburg city centre, in the so-called “Central Basin”, with each pump capable of bringing 1,500 m³/h of water to the surface.

Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum: Atex Certificate for Steel Degassing Vacuum Systems

Tuesday, July 1st, 2014 von admin

OLV PIC 2 (2)In all processes for steel degassing under vacuum gases and vapors are formed that might be dangerous. Essentially CO and H2 as well as the vapors of volatile metals are released from the steel surface. Explosion protection in vacuum plants especially those that generate a large quantity of CO by the use of oxygen for decarburization so far has been assured by overpressure flaps at the metallurgical reaction vessels, alarm devices for water leakage, sensors for pressure and temperature as well as emergency venting with nitrogen. With the introduction of mechanical vacuum pumps efficient installations for gas cooling and dust separation became necessary.
