Wilden: Stainless steel AODD pump for higher corrosion resistance

Wilden_Advanced-FIT_PS830-SSThe new Wilden air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pump series 430 and 830 Advanced FIT is produced of 316 stainless steel for higher corrosion resistance in aggressive chemical applications. These sieries have been specifically designed to be direct replacements for existing Wilden 38 mm (1-1/2”) and 51 mm (2”) Advanced pump installations.

“FIT” means

  • bolt-to-bolt and
  • pipe-to-pipe

Wacker_freiIn the existing chemical installation in a Wacker Chemie plant, the safety-related design of the relevant pump systems had to be thoroughly renovated. One of the basic requirements for the redesign was that diaphragm pumps themselves had to remain absolutely hermetically tight, even at high working temperatures of +170 °C during normal operations and brief peaks as high as +200 °C. As a result, Lewa developed an individual solution to meet the specific customer requirements.

“As an additional security measure, the pressure-free hydraulic reservoir behind the diaphragm is blanketed with nitrogen as a protective gas”, explains Lewa project lead Rainer Sonnenfroh.

Wilden: Air Distribution System now in Stainless Steel & Plastic

Wilden_SHIFT-SS-PLSThe Pro-Flo Shift Air Distribution System (ADS) for Wilden air-operated double-diaphragm (AODD) pumps is now available in

  • 316 stainless steel and
  • polypropylene plastic materials of construction,
  • joining the original aluminum and nickel-plated aluminum offerings.

The introduction of the stainless steel and plastic options allows Wilden AODD pumps to be offered for a greater number of applications, including

  • sanitary (food & beverage, personal care products and pharmaceuticals),
  • hazardous chemicals and
  • corrosive environments.

WEG: New frequency inverter for decentralised motor and wall installation

WEG2110_Bild1The MW500 frequency inverter with decentralised design has been developed for space-saving solutions, such as directly motor mounted or adjacent to the motor on the wall. As a result, the need for lengthy cables and switch cabinets is eliminated. MW500 is robust with an IP66 protection rating. It can withstand high overloading of 150% for 60 seconds every 10 minutes, and operate in temperatures up to 40°C (wall installation) and 50°C (motor installation). With increased ruggedness compared to alternative technologies, it provides reliable operation over a long service life. The inverter is designed to operate asynchronous motors in the power range 0.75 to 7.5 kW, and is offered as three variants for a mains voltage of 380 to 400V (A: 1.1 to 1.5 kW, B: 2.2 – 4 kW and C: 5.5 – 7.5 kW), and for 200 to 240V, as variant A (0.75 to 1.1 kW). It is ideal for many pump applications.

The ACS580 is ABB’s all-compatible general purpose drive. Through drive selection, set up, operation and maintenance, the ACS580 turns complicated to simple to control processes efficiently. The ACS580 power range is 0.75 to 250 kW and voltage range is 208 to 480 V.

The wall-mounted drive is available with IP21 enclosure and from now on the drives with IP55 enclosure for harsh environments are available as well.


Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum: Major Order for High-Performance Cryo Pumps

The order of a Chinese company includes the manufacturing of a batch of cryogenic vacuum pumps of the series Coolvac for the evacuation of space simulation chambers. These pumps with a flange diameter of 1.3 m anr pumping at rate of 60,000 litres per second for nitrogen. Cryo pumps are used wherever very large vacuum chambers need to be evacuated very rapidly to extremely low pressures, offering high pumping rates and an attainable vacuum of down to 10-12 mbar.

GDNash_PR_2BE5_cmykThe Nash 2BE5 has been launched to build on the 2BE4 series. The development goal was to optimize and extend the performance the vacuum range below 300 mbar abs. The result: The new 2BE5 series pumps are able to achieve vacuum levels down to 100 mbar abs. This is made possible primarily by optimization of the gas flow. The patented gas scavenger provides increased vacuum capacity and, consequently, a significant improvement in terms of efficiency. Compared to the basic 2BE4 model, water consumption in the once-through mode has been reduced by up to 25%. Improved fluid self-recirculation eliminates the need for booster pumps.
