Plastic AODD pumps are positive-displacement pumps that have a diaphragm in each of their two pumping chambers. These diaphragms are connected by a shaft so that when the compression stroke takes place in one chamber during the pumping process, the suction stroke takes place simultaneously in the other chamber. This results in efficient, reliable, cost-effective, repeatable operation when handling any number of abrasive liquids or compounds. Solid body plastic AODD pumps have many advantages for abrasive-handling. They do not require electricity, they are self-priming and can pump a wide range of abrasive media, from slurries to liquids with suspended solids.
Pump Solutions Group (PSG), an operating company within Dover Corporation (NYSE: DOV) announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Finder S.p.A., headquartered in Merate, Italy.
One of Europe’s most modern pump test bay can now be found in the German city of Vlotho. With an investment of more than two million Euros, ASV Stübbe GmbH & Co. KG built a test bay for newly developed plastic pumps, which shatters all previous dimensions: now, vertical as well as horizontal centrifugal pumps with power ranges of up to 350 kW and a flow rate of up to 1,200 m³/h can be tested virtually fully automatically. “With this new test bay”, explains ASV Stübbe Managing Director Klaus Warnecke, “we are optimally equipped for further growth.” This being one of the largest investments in the company’s history, ASV Stübbe is focussing particularly on the growing markets in Eastern Europe, China and South America.
Wilden has received Patent No. 8,496,451 from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its Full-Stroke Integral Piston Diaphragm (FSIPD). “The FSIPD provides the clean-ability that customers need and adds the flow rate and suction-lift performance they want. In addition, customers will be happy to know that a Wilden FSIPD is about half the cost of a PTFE IPD,” says Robert Jack, Development Engineer, Wilden Pump and Engineering.
Constructed of Wil-Flex™ (Santoprene®), FSIPDs do not incorporate an outer metallic plate that requires the pump to be cleaned manually. Instead, the metallic plate is integrated into the material itself, resulting in a diaphragm design that uses the same shaft and inner piston as Wilden’s rubber and TPE diaphragms to maximize performance. Wil-Flex FSIPDs are easy to install and do not require inverting of the diaphragm for installation. Wilden FSIPDs do not use any adhesives that could get exposed to the pumping media.
Hermetic canned motor pumps are known for their high Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF). However, should a pump fail, the urgency of spare part delivery is particularly high. At worst, loss of production or downtime of entire plant sections is impending. To respond as quickly as possible, Hermetic optimised not only production, processing and packaging of urgent orders, but also their dispatch: Due to classification as “Known Consignor” by the Federal Aviation Office (Luftfahrt-Bundesamt), spare parts or complete pumps may be packed ready for airfreight and dispatched at the production site in Germany. Afterwards, a freight forwarder, who is also qualified, transports the goods from the factory directly to the aircraft.
Allweiler, a Colafax brand, based in Radolfzell, Germany, has been awarded third place in the Baden-Württembergian state competition for environmental technology in the Measurement, Control, and Regulation category. Its entry was an advanced electronic condition monitoring and control solution for pumps known as Allmind.
Special eye-catcher at the KSB stand at drinktec in Munich from 16 – 20 September 2013 will be the new SuPremE pump motor. Developed by KSB, it is a real highlight where saving energy is concerned. With its synchronous reluctance principle the motor provides users with a technology that is ideally suited to fulfil all future requirements for energy-efficient drives of pumps. It meets the planned IE4 efficiency requirements to IEC/CD 60034-30 Ed. 2 already today.
